Her Majesty’s Theatre

Her Majesty's Theatre, affectionately known as The Maj, is Adelaide's oldest continually operating performance venue, entertaining audiences on Grote Street since 1913. Following a $66 million redevelopment completed in 2020, the heritage facade and eastern wall were preserved while the interior was rebuilt with a new 1,467-seat auditorium across three levels, including the return of grand circle seating for the first time in more than 50 years.

Toms Court Hotel is a short walk from The Maj, directly opposite the Adelaide Central Market precinct, making it easy to build a full evening around dinner and a show. Guests can walk to major musicals, opera, concerts and theatre performances without needing transport, then walk back after the curtain falls.

The Maj has hosted major international names over its history, including Luciano Pavarotti and Dame Gracie Fields, and continues to bring blockbuster touring productions to Adelaide. For guests staying at Toms Court Hotel, it is one of the closest premier theatre venues in the city, with dinner options in the surrounding Gouger Street and Central Market precinct on the way.
